HAM DIL KHAALAQ ALLAH SOHEE VASEJEE
BY PEER SHAMS
ejee ham dil khaalaq, Allah sohee vasejee,
jene kaayam kudarat chalaai..................ebhee allah.....1
In our hearts, resides Allah the Creator; the same Lord Allah who establishes
and sustains the everlasting nature and creation..He is indeed the Lord.
ejee sun be mullaa, sun be kaajee,
e sesht kenne rachaai........................ebhee allah.....2
Listen to me, O you priests and judges! (tell me),
who has created this universe?.........He is indeed the Lord
ejee isare maattee maa(n)hethee, saaree duniyaa neepaai,
isame konn hindu, konn musalmaan.............ebhee allah.....3
The Lord has created the whole world from this dust, (so) who
in it is a Hindu and who a Muslim?..........He is indeed the Lord.
ejee hindu sohee je addasatth tirath jaave
musalmaan maseetaa...........................ebhee allah.....4
A Hindu is he who visits sixty-eight shrines (for pilgrimage) and a
Muslim is the one who goes to a mosque.....He is indeed the Lord
ejee mere shaahku hindu na jaanne musalmaan na buje,
shaah betthaa nira(n)jan hoi.................ebhee allah.....5
Neither a Hindu, nor a Muslim knows or recognise my Lord (Hazar Imaam).
My Lord resides (in this world) as the Pure and Holy (unaffected by the guiles
of the world - niranjan means without collyrium or without any dimensions).
By performing external rituals only without the Guide one cannot know the Lord.
ejee man meraa musallah allah meraa kaajee
kaayaa hameree maseetaa......................ebhee allah.....6
The mind(heart) is my prayer mat, the Lord is my judge (He is both the witness
and the judge of my supplications and prayers to Him), and my body is the mosque
(a sanctuary, a Jammat Khaanaa from where I offer my
prayers to Him)..............He is indeed the Lord
ejee a(n)dar baytth me namaaz gujaaru(n),
murakh kiyaa jaane taa-et hamaaree...........ebhee allah.....7
I sit within my inner sanctuary and offer my prayers. How would fools know
(the nature of) my worship?....He is indeed the Lord
ejee aave to rojee nahee to rojaa,
esaa esaa dhi-aan mere saahebjeesu(n) dharanaa..ebhee allah..8
If I get food, it is my sustenance (from the Lord), if not, it is my fast (submitting
to the will of the Lord). This is the manner in which you should concentrate
on my Lord(i.e. devote and submit yourself to Him)............He is indeed the Lord
ejee moman sohee jo sab maram-j jaanne,
elam rahaasar chalannaa......................ebhee allah.....9
The true believer is he who knows all the (spiritual) mysteries and follows the
path of knowledge(and understanding)...He is indeed the Lord.
ejee ghyaan dhiyaan maa(n)he sarve sudh paai,
khoj khoj kar milanaa........................ebhee allah....10
All understanding is gained through knowledge and remembrance.
By constant search one can attain (the real purpose of your life - reunion
with your Creator)............He is indeed the Lord.
ejee boliyaa peer shamsh, sunno moraa bhaai
peer beenaa paar keeu(n) tarannaa............ebhee allah....11
Peer Shamsh says: "Listen to me my brothers! How can you cross (the ocean
of material existence safely) without a Guide...He is indeed the Lord.

HAM DIL KHAALAQ ALLAH SOHI VASEJI
Pir Shams
Allah the Ceator who hath created the lasting;
Nature lives within all hearts.
He is the creator...1
Listen O Mulla! Listen O Kazi!
Who has created this universe?
He is the creator...2
The earth is created from this dust,
Amongst those who is Hindu and who is Muslim?
He is the creator...3
Hindu is he who performs sixty-eight pilgrimages,
Muslim is he who goes to Mosque.
He is the creator...4
Neither the Hindu nor the Muslim knows my Lord,
for my Lord is omnipotent.
He is the creator...5
My heart is the praying-carpet, Allah is my Qazi,
And my body is the Mosque.
He is the creator...6
Within myself I offer my prayers,
What would the ignorant understand the secret of my worship?
He is the creator...7
What He gives I eat, otherwise I fast;
Such is the devotion to my Lord.
He is the creator...8
Momin is he who knows the secret of self,
And follows the path of knowledge.
He is the creator...9
Knowledge of everything is contained in religious understanding,
Seek it and you will find it.
He is the creator...10
So says Pir Shams, listen O my brother,
How would you attain salvation without a religious guide?
He is the creator...11

HAMDIL KHALAK ALLAH SOHI VASEJI
Pir Shams
In the hearts of all of us resides the same God,
Who created and maintains the eternal nature
He is the same Allah ...1
Listen to me, O you mullah and kaji
Who created this world? ... Allah ...2
From this (the same) clay the whole world is made
In it who is a Hindu, who is a Muslim
The (creator of them all is) same Allah ...3
A Hindu is he who visits sixty-eight shrines
A Muslim (goes) to a Mosque
(In both of these places it is) the same Allah ...4
Neither a Hindu nor a Muslim recognises
my Lord (Hazar Imam). Who is the same Allah ...5
The mind is my mat, Allah is my Judge
My body (is) my Mosque,
(wherein I pray to the same Allah) ...6
Sitting within (my body) I perform prayer;
How would the ununiformed know my method?
(wherein I pray is to) the same Allah ...7
The food (if received of its own accord)
is a welcome maintenance
Otherwise a willing fast
Such should be concentration for your Lord ...8
The true believer is he who has the distinctive
knowledge
He follows the path guided by that knowledge ...9
All understanding is contained in the knowledge
and meditation
Meet (Allah) by searching, (and you will meet)
the same Allah ...10
Said Pir Shams, "O hear me, my brothers."
How to reach across safely (and get down safely
on the opposite bank) without (the help of)
the spiritual guide? (And to meet) the same Allah ...11

HAM DIL KHALAQ ALLAH SOHI VASEJI
Pir Shams
Allah, the Creator of eternal nature dwells in the hearts of all;
He is the same Allah. ...1
Listen, O Mullah and O Kazi,
Who is the Creator of this universe?
He is the same Allah. ...2
It is the same clay from which everyone has been created.
Whether he is Hindu or Musalman;
The Creator is the same Allah. ...3
A Hindu is he who visits sixty-eight shrines,
A Musalman is he who visits a Mosque;
He is the same Allah. ...4
Neither a Hindu nor a Musalman recognizes my Lord.
For He is everpresent but is concealed from these physical eyes.
He is the same Allah. ...5
My mind becomes Musallah (the carpet for praying)
And Allah become my Kazi (one who lends the prayers)
My body becomes the Mosque.
Within this Mosque I perform the prayers.
How would ignorant people understand my way of praying?
He is the same Allah. ...6
Momin is he who knows the secret of self.
And follows the path shown by divine knowledge.
He is the same Allah. ...7
There is everything in divine knowledge.
Through this knowledge and meditation seek thy Lord,
Says Pir Shams, Listen to me my brothers, how one can achieve salvation without being a true momin.
He is the same Allah. ...8
